Ribbon Organizer

If your like me.....you have tons of ribbon EVERYWHERE!! And clutter makes me CRAZY!! This project was started mainly because I could never find a thing I was looking for due to the fact that my office/craft room closet looks like Micheal's blew up in it!! (that's a whole different story that I can't get in to right now...it's making my blood pressure rise just thinking about it)

My revelation started when I saw something similar and decided I had to give it a try........and I must say I think it turned out to be pretty darn SPECTACULAR!!

This is all you need:

  1. pre-made shelf
  2. cafe style curtain rods
  3. (2) hooks
  4. (2) chains-same length
  5. drill

All you need to do is drill (2) small holes in your shelf so you can easily screw in the hooks.

**make sure your hooks are not to far apart!!

Next hang the shelf up on the wall and hang the chain from the 2 hooks. Put one end of cafe curtain rod through the chain and load on you ribbon!!

And your done!!

SERIOUSLY HOW EASY WAS THAT???

Whole project cost around-$20.00;)

Thrift Store Redo

I recently went to His House......a Thrift Store in Columbia, S.C. and scored this uber cute side table for $5 buck a roos!!

Now it definitely had some wear and tear......but I had other plans for this sweet thang!!

I started out by cleaning it off and when I turned it over, much to my surprise it was an Ethan Allen table.......WHAT??? SUPER SCORE!!

Then I got out......you guessed it.....my true love....Krylon Spray Paint!!

I used a primer since I didn't feel like sanding the table (I mean really, who has time for that??) and then spray painted it my new favorite Krylon color........EVER.......Blue Ocean Breeze!!

Doesn't that sound amazing??

And......

I LURVE it!!

It's just what I had been looking for!! I had been on the hunt for a nightstand for our guest bedroom for some time now......but I could never find anything that I just fell in LURVE with & I didn't want to spend a bookoo of $$$!!
BONUS.....it matches the throw pillow perfectly:) Which makes my heart flutter!!

Whole project cost around: $11 Dollars....YEAH:)

***Please ignore the black lamp and cord....this is NOT I repeat NOT the lamp going in this room!! I'm still on the prowl for that!! I stole this lamp from another room to see how the whole set up would look....you know I'm a VISUAL person;)

Decorating a Rental

For the past few days I have been racking my brain trying to come up with different ways to decorate and personalize our new home!! Since it's a rental I was scared it would never quite feel like home to us, mostly because we couldn't do anything to it to make it our own!! My biggest challenge by far has been that we can not paint our walls (And I BIG fluffy heart color!! I will paint just about ANYTHING that doesn't move.....& I have a severe obsession with spray paint:) to top it off....I absolutely LOATH white walls!! So I needed to find some other options.......I started my search on Etsy (My favorite site EVER) & that's when I stumbled upon this dreamy vinyl wall decal........

{this is the sample picture from Grimes Graphics Etsy Store}

Isn't it GORGE..... It goes on super easy and when we move, it will come down just as easy!

PERFECT!!

Easy & Cheap Art

OK..........so I'm all about some easy & cheap ways to decorate my house!! I tend to change things in my house so much, I know if I buy decorations that are expensive they will one day (very soon) end up in a plastic bin, in my garage, in decoration heaven!! So my rule of thumb has always been.......Buy more expensive BIG pieces of furniture that you will keep for a long time & accessorize your house with inexpensive things.....so you won't feel so bad about getting rid of them when you want to change things up;)

So I started out with a $3 picture frame I found at Wally World and removed the glass!!

Then I took a fake pear I already had in a fruit bowl in the kitchen & cut it in half!!

Next all you need to do is hot glue the pear half onto the picture frame.........

And Wha La.......instant art for my kitchen & it only cost me $3 buck a roos!!
Which makes me insanely happy:)

Silhouette......OH MY!!

I have been wanting this thing for like.....well FOREVER!! I showed it to my dear husband online *hint hint* & he replied "So you want to spend that kind of $$$, on something that cuts out letters??" "Why can't you just use scissors??" OH MY.......he SO does not understand that it is so much MORE than a LETTER CUTTER!!! And I won't be able to function if I do not have it!! All in all.....Battle LOST!!! So.......I guess for now it will stay on my wish list & I'll just have to ask Santa for it for Christmas!! (Cause Santa completely understands my need for the Silhouette SD)

Coconut Pie

For those of you who LOVE coconut like I do.......this pie is to die for and definitely worth giving a try! Thank you Paula Deen for bringing this recipe into my life! It is super easy, only has a few ingredients and it will be gone before you sit it on the counter.....seriously my family devoured it before I could take a picture!! SORRY guys no picture for this one.....maybe next time!!

All you need is:
4 tablespoons butter = 1/2 stick, melted
2 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 (3.5 oz) can shredded sweetened coconut
1 cup milk
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine melted butter, eggs, flour, sugar, coconut & milk
Pour into pie shell & bake until firm about 45 to 60 mins
*I put my pie on a baking sheet to avoid spilling, try to make the pie as close to the oven as you can....if you have to walk across the room, you will spill it!
*At 45 mins give your pie a little shake.....if it still giggles in the center bake it a little longer!
{recipe courtesy of Paula Deen}

* These are my personal recommendations!

Enjoy,
April
